Each issue includes 3 to 4 feature articles, plus 8 to 10 rotating departments. Typically, departments and columns run between 1,000-1,500 words. Features run between 1,800 and 2,500 words. All first-time professional freelance writers contributing to INSIGHT Magazine, regardless of experience and writing credits, receive a flat fee of $360-475. Pays up $550 to $1,000 for features.

Each magazine publishes stories from local freelance writer. The average department length story (4-700 words) pays up to $300 and the average feature length story (1000-1,200 words) pays up to $600, depending on the story.

The editors purchase all rights to articles so we have the option of making reprints of articles, republish them in special ABM editions (such as an anniversary edition), or use them on our website.

The Magazine is approximately 50 percent freelance written. The editors accept cover stories, features and in our regular sections. The magazine purchases all print and electronic rights to all assigned articles.

The desired length for a feature in our magazines is between 1,000-1,200 words. Unless otherwise negotiated, payment is 40 cents per published word, for publication in the magazine and on our website.

BCBusiness is British Columbia’s foremost business authority and the most widely read business publication in the province. BCBusiness delivers features that shed light on the significant issues and trends shaping the province. Full-length features vary in length from 2,000 to 3,500-plus words. Rates vary with the storys complexity and the writers experience.
