Cicada magazine

CICADA, for ages 14 and up, publishes original short stories, poems, and first-person essays written for teens and young adults. CICADA’s readers are smart and well versed and can handle complexness relative to topic, characterization, and story. The editors accept practical, modern, and historical fiction, along with humor, mysteries, fantasy, and sci-fi. Length: up to 5,000 words. In nonfiction, the editors like first-person experiences of curiosity to teen and adolescent readers. The editors will review serious, humorous, rhyming or free verse poetry. Length: up to 25 lines. Payment: 25 cents/word.
