Brain, Child: The Magazine for Thinking Mothers
Brain, Child is the only literary magazine dedicated to motherhood. For features, new items, and debate essays, query with clips first. Each issue devotes space to at least one traditional feature, a piece that relies more heavily on reporting than introspection. Examples of this sort include an in-depth look at the home-schooling movement and an investigation into the frontiers of genetic testing. Word length: 3K-6K words for features. The magazine also publishes 2-5 poems per issue. Payment: competitive rates.
