Asimov’s Science Fiction magazine

Asimov’s Science Fiction magazine is an established market for science fiction stories. Asimovs pays 8-10 cents per word for short stories up to 7,500 words, and 8-8.5 cents per word for longer material. Payment for poetry is $1 a line, which should not exceed 40 lines. The editors want “character oriented” stories, those in which the characters, rather than the science, provide the main focus for the reader’s interest.
