Online Job Sites Are Making America The Go-to Talent Pool For International Firms
Posted on: Thu, 17 Apr 2008 20:24:00 +0000

New York copywriter Debbie Feldstein says online job sites are making America the go-to talent pool for international firms that are outsourcing creativity. In 'The Freelance Market' for ABC News.com, a story about using the web to find freelance work, Debbie says, "Established businesses, start-ups, and especially entrepreneurial individuals around the world are looking for expertise in an area where America still maintains a leading edge: creativity."

BRINGING HOME THE DOLLARS, EUROS & OTHER INT'L CURRENCIES

Debbie is living proof that business is flowing into the U.S. A successful business writer for nearly a decade, she registered for online job resource Elance.com in 2000 when she launched her copywriting business Creative Blocks Editorial Services. At that time, the majority of her business was from "my fellow Americans," she says.

During the past 8 years, she says she's seen an increasing number of projects posted by people in Australia, Central Europe, the UK, and other international destinations. Debbie specializes in small business marketing materials and how-to ebooks on diverse subjects of interest to profit-oriented entrepreneurs.

"American salesmanship is a highly sought-after commodity," she reports. "Businesses everywhere are willing to pay for creative expertise that translates into product sales and profits."

THE HIGH PRICE OF AMERICAN GOODS AND GOODNESS

Debbie dismisses the idea pay rates in the international market are poor. "I won't argue that there are companies that pay rock bottom prices and freelancers that work for peanuts," she says. "However, there are plenty of businesses that have a 'you get what you pay for' approach. They're willing to invest in American know-how because it will pay off tangibly in sales."

Debbie also provides coaching services to U.S.-based creatives seeking to increase the profitability of their promotional efforts online and offline. "But I find myself increasingly acting as a 'coach' for my international clients," she says. "They want to know more about the American way of marketing for success."

As a result, she hopes to add 'online coaching' to her growing list of professional credits.
