An editing job involves taking a piece of writing and conforming it to set of standards. Editors often use Style manuals as a reference for standard writing style. Style manuals include APA Style, MLA Style, and Chicago Manual of Style. Different publications choose a style and then ask the editors to make all of the writing consistent to that style.
