Do not work for content gurus. Avoid them completely.
They do not pay and they act like they are doing you a favor when they pay you weeks late on work they have already received and sold.
I make my living writing freelance and because of Content Gurus I am on the verge of going broke.
So do yourself a favor and find another freelance company to work for as Content Gurus probably won't be around for much longer.
I just started working for them 6 months ago and I regret the time I spent working for them.

I am feeling your pain. I have spent the past month trying to get the money they owe me. Grr. I really dont know what all I can do about it though.
So yes, I second this warning. They do not pay much to begin with, they pay way late, and there is the chance you will not be paid at all.

There is something you can do and you are already doing it, name and shame them. Also tell them clearly the content is not theirs till you have been paid thus you retain the right to publish elsewhere. They won't want that!
Tell them, they have 48hrs to pay or you will publish the content, rendering it invalid for their use.
See my article in the advice section re dealing with scammers. __________________

I'm glad to have found this thread, I was just about to sign up with Content Gurus. It's really a shame that they have resorted to ripping off their writers.

This is horrible. I can just imagine all the stress that their writers are going through. I hope these people from Content Gurus, whoever they are, realize that their writers are working so hard to support their families and that if they do not pay them, things can really get very tight at home. I am a parent too and I know how hard it is to earn enough money these days to keep the family comfortable. These types of things should be reported to the authorities.

I did the "trial" article for them, and never heard anything back. I guess now I can assume they stole it, huh?

I left them a feedback after reading this thread that many writers are upset about their spotty and late payment. I informed them that the word is spreading on message boards about them, and suggested they clean up their act.
Think it'll have an effect?

I'm so glad that someone has spoken up about these people. I wrote for them for a while, and when they do pay (which is indeed VERY rarely) it is far below the amount of money that writers should be paid.
They're actually just a husband and wife team who decided to start their own content business. Clearly, they don't have a clue as to how to properly run said business.
To this day, they owe me a substantial sum of money. I repeatedly tried to get said money, got lots of false promises (sometimes the e-mails went unread altogether), and not a cent. If you check out their site, you'll notice that they have a phone number, but they won't take calls from freelance writers. Shocking. A Ripoff Report should be filed against them for what they do to writers.

Seems like everyone here has a problem with the money.
Well, just to let you know it looks like they tell you how much you will be paid before you even take the work... so if you don't like it, why take it?
Don't complain about something you decided to do and then blame someone else for it.
And also, Content Gurus has clients, which pay THEM so they can pay you. So it's not always their fault.
And about someone's trial article. If you did not hear back, that means they did not accept you. And their trial articles are a few samples that have been the same for years they wouldn't want to steal it. And even if they did, they would have stolen somebody else's by now.
You all obviously only think about yourselves and don't take others into account. ANY business online is a risky business. If you don't like not having direct contact with Content Gurus, then you shouldn't bother wasting your time working online and get off your lazy asses and get a job that requires you to leave your apartment/house. At least you'll have direct contact and can feel much safer about your money then.

I have to agree with YouGuysAreDumb. I have found the folks at Content Gurus to be very helpful and supportive. As for the rates they offer, as he said - if you don't like it why write for them? No one is forcing anything on anyone. And in regard to their payment terms - these are all given in the rules and regualtions and if these are not acceptable, just don't write for them.
The fact is that Content Gurus has bunch of writers who have been with them for a long time and who all seem to be happy . I guess it all depends on your point of view and your expectations.

I fully agree with the initiator of this post. Content gurus are typical fraudulent people who promise to pay well but in reality, they don't. Being a victim of their scam and having spent too much time with them asking for the outstanding, I am in a pathetic state now. Neither they have paid for the work nor they have sent the latest invoices. Without notice, they disable your entry to their forum! Horrible. Freelancers - Please please do not get in touch with them. I really don't want any of you to suffer because of them. They have wreaked havoc in my life. let them not do it anymore in any one's life! They are frauds, cheats who don't even have the courtesy to pay for the goods delivered!
They were supportive till they got the write ups from us. I don't really understand where the courtesy and supportive mentality has disappeared when it comes to payment. Please please be aware of the fact that they are untrustworthy and unscrupulous!
If need be, I can testify what i am saying. Drop me a message and I can give you more details!

Wordsmith and YouGuysareDumb - we have had bad experiences with them. Please do not support them without knowing what happened to one bunch of writers who were a part of them. At least they should pay us what they ought to. We are not complaining about the amount they pay per article. We are practically talking about the deception and the online scam that they are into!!!
If we had known earlier that they were mere cheats, why would we join as writers there...If I had seen this post a couple of years back, I would not have even sent the sample to them!
