( Added: October 26, 2009 )  - The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) has issued a call for television entries in the annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards competition. There are three categories: (1) an episode or pilot of a 30-minute series, (2) an episode or pilot of a 60-minute series, and (3) a movie or miniseries made for television.

The deadline for entries is noon on December 1. Finalists will be named in mid-December, and winners will be announced during the awards celebration here at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel on February 27, 2010.

"This annual competition is an opportunity for our members and the filmmaking community to celebrate the artistic achievements of our peers," says ASC President Michael Goi. "In addition to recognizing today's cinematographers for their accomplishments, our goal is to inspire the next generation of filmmakers to pursue their passion for visual storytelling."

Cinematographers can submit programs which have a U.S. premiere broadcast date of December 1, 2008, through November 30, 2009. There are generally five nominees in each category, who are chosen by ASC members.

"Television cinematography is a demanding and artful endeavor," adds ASC Awards Chairman Richard Crudo, ASC. "Some of the world's most talented cinematographers create amazing images every week with short deadlines and tight budgets in a competitive field."
